E Commerce Services Acquisition

Mergers and acquisitions of e commerce services providers are kicking into high gear, opening up the possibility of major benefits from vendor consolidation in the industry. The rate of consolidation by vendors in this space has been picking up since 2008, with over 1,200 acquisitions occurring since that time. Over half of these have also been within the last 18 months.
Larger e commerce providers are emerging from this acquisition spree, and they are now poised to provide a range of services to e-retailers that range from integration to maintenance. Having many services from the same company is appealing to many e-retailers. Integration of many disparate systems is often fraught with difficulties for e-retailers. Large companies like IBM and Oracle are now offering this type of integrated service to help retailers focus on their core business.
