Competition in Chinese e commerce services is cutthroat, with margins staying tight and price wars all too common. Chinese e commerce sites must differentiate themselves creatively in order to get repeat visitors. The top Chinese e commerce sites have done just that, including the largest online shopping site Taobao. It offers both B2C TMalls and C2C Taobao Market.
After Taobao, 360Buy.comand M18.com attracted the most monthly visits per user. The products on 360Buy.com tend to be high-end gadgets which require a lot of consideration before purchase. This helps to explain the many pageviews per user on this site. M18.com, on the other hand, is a women's fashion retailer. The stickiness here is explained by women's tendency to window shop, which holds true in the online world as well as at the mall.

Magazines are expanding their business models through e commerce services such as marketing and matchmaking. For example, New York Magazine is partnering with HowAboutWe.com, an online dating site, in a bid to keep audiences and advertisers engaged.
This means that consumers can expect more services to be offered by magazines outside of content as they try to strengthen their business models. Magazine publishers like Hearst are now turning to e commerce as a way to offer readers the ability to purchase products they see on the magazine websites and apps. This idea of commerce mixing with editorial content is moving offline into the world of print, as well. Periodicals such as Lucky Magazine are now offering "text to buy" promotions on select products. The link-up between New York Magazine and HowAboutWe will be interesting to watch as a test case for this innovative marketing approach.
